John has been in the liquor business for over 20 years. He has a wide breath of experience in our industry. He has worked on the wholesale side and has managed some great stores too.
What made him special to Mo's Wine & Spirits is his love of learning about wine. He has attended and taught many a wine class, including some on the professional level. He brings his great love of wine education to our customers -- he is a great resource to help figure out the just right wine for a special occasion or meal.
A perfect evening for John would be grilling some thick, juicy New York strip steaks on the grill and popping open a delicious Bordeaux to complement his meal.
John is pouring The Rock Cabernet ($11.99) with the burgers he is serving up this weekend. This is a quite tasty and appealing Cabernet Sauvignon. Ripe aromas of black cherry, spicy and smoke. The flavors mirror the nose along with some vanilla, cocoa and a touch of mint. Medium-weight with long tannins.
John loves his French wines, almost as much as Francois! He really enjoys this budget friendly Bordeaux, Château de la Sabliere Fongrave ($13.99). Bright, fresh and authentic, this wine is primarily Merlot (80%) with Cabernet Sauvignon (20%), and offers lovely dark berry and cassis essence with a seamless texture and graceful dry finish. Pair this with some roasted meats and you will be exceedingly happy.
John will be attending quite a few holiday parties. He is always asked to bring a great wine. This season, he is bringing Wine by Joe Pinot Noir ($15.99). This crowd-pleasing Pinot produced by the Dobbes Family is perfect for any holiday dinner with all the fixings. Abundant fresh, red fruit aromas of ripe Bing cherry, strawberry and pomegranate are accented by floral hibiscus and brambly, herbal undertones. Bright red fruit aromas carry onto the palate where a smooth mouthfeel supports full body, pleasant tannins and juicy acidity.
