John has been in the liquor business for over 20 years. He has a wide breath of experience in our industry. He has worked on the wholesale side and has managed some great stores too.

What made him special to Mo's Wine & Spirits is his love of learning about wine. He has attended and taught many a wine class, including some on the professional level. He brings his great love of wine education to our customers -- he is a great resource to help figure out the just right wine for a special occasion or meal.

A perfect evening for John would be grilling some thick, juicy New York strip steaks on the grill and popping open a delicious Bordeaux to complement his meal.

John's Picks

John has a large group coming over for Thanksgiving with a wide range of palates. But John has a plan to keep everyone happy - by serving Riesling. Riesling is a dazzlingly food-friendly drink that appeals to a big variety of tastes (and that wine lovers take very seriously). Ryan Patrick Riesling ($12.99) which is produced in Yakima Valley in Washington. A fragrant wine with notes of lavender, pear and peach. An off-dry Riesling with a pleasing round entry with fresh acidity, a fruit driven mid palate and a clean refreshing finish. That acidity is what makes it perfect for Thanksgiving.

John picked Banshee Pinot Noir ($23.99) as his top red wine choice for Thanksgiving, and it isn't surprising as Pinot Noir and roasted turkey make excellent bedfellows. As difficult as it is to produce excellent Pinot Noir, it is even more difficult to do so at a fine value. Banshee succeeds at both in spades. The bouquet has notes of plum, dark strawberry, clove, chocolate and earth. On the palate there is beautiful balance, with good acidity, silky tannins and very good length. If your a fan of Pinot, don't miss this great value for Thanksgiving and the rest of the holiday season.
